As you’ll be aware from our previous updates, Companies House is in the process of introducing mandatory ID verification for company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs).
The good news is that progress is being made. Over 1.5 million directors and PSCs have already verified their identity, but this still represents only a small proportion of the 6–7 million individuals who will ultimately need to complete verification. Many companies therefore still have one or more directors or PSCs unverified.
As the regime continues to roll out, Companies House will increasingly expect all directors and PSCs to be verified before key filings — such as confirmation statements — can be completed without delay.
What this means for you
- If you haven’t already done so, now is a good time to check whether all directors and PSCs linked to your company have verified their ID.
- Verifying early helps avoid last-minute issues, rejected filings, or compliance delays later on.
- The process is a one-off for most individuals and is designed to be completed online.
If you’re unsure whether everyone connected with your company has completed verification, or if you’d like help reviewing your Companies House records, please get in touch with your client manager.
