Partnership tax return

Introduction

This schedule sets out the scope of services we will provide.

The purpose of this schedule is to clearly define what is and is not included in the scope of our work.

This schedule should be read in conjunction with our engagement letter and our standard terms of business.

Included work

As part of our agreed services, we will:

  • Request and collate information required to complete the Partnership Tax Return (SA800 and supplementary pages)
  • Prepare the return and calculate each partner's allocation of profits, losses, and other income
  • Send you a draft for review and obtain your approval before submission
  • Submit the final return to HMRC using approved software
  • Advise you of each partner's resulting tax position and any relevant payment deadlines

 

Please note: this list is not exhaustive. Any work not specifically listed under "Included work" is deemed outside the scope of this engagement unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

 

Where additional work is required, we will advise you of the scope, our proposed fee, and obtain your agreement before proceeding.

Excluded work

The following work is outside the scope of this service unless separately agreed in writing:

  • Preparation or submission of individual partners' Self-Assessment tax returns (SA100)
  • Tax planning or advice beyond the scope of completing the partnership return
  • Bookkeeping or preparation of accounts required to produce the figures included in the return
  • Correspondence or dispute resolution with HMRC outside of routine filing
  • Capital Gains Tax calculations on complex disposals
  • Amendment or correction of previously submitted Partnership Tax Returns
  • Advice on non-UK income, domicile, or residency status of any partner (unless otherwise agreed)
  • Tax avoidance schemes to disclose (DOTAS)

Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide complete and accurate information in a timely manner, including all relevant records and documentation needed to prepare the return
  • Notify us promptly of any significant changes to the partnership's circumstances, including changes to partners or profit sharing arrangements
  • Review the return carefully and approve it before submission
  • Ensure each partner is aware of their tax liabilities and payment deadlines to avoid interest or penalties
  • Inform us of any HMRC correspondence received relating to the partnership

Our responsibilities

We agree to:

  • Prepare the Partnership Tax Return accurately and in line with current HMRC guidance
  • Liaise with you clearly and promptly to request necessary documentation
  • Keep you informed of deadlines, tax positions, and any changes in legislation that may affect the partnership
  • File the return securely and handle your information in compliance with data protection laws
